My Old Rival 03:33
Heard my old rival died today Heard the lord giveth and he taketh away He spent his life searching for a bit of stormy weather And kept me dreaming about you and I together No matter what you might have heard I didn't wish him any harm He shouldn't have killed that noble bird Didn't wish him any harm The old myths still matter to me They don't seem so far away Red sky morning, did my rival see it coming? Standing on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay I never told him I admired him I'm not exactly sure I did I warmed myself beside a fire in him And then I ran away and hid No matter what you might have heard I didn't wish him any harm He shouldn't have killed that noble bird Didn't wish him any harm Now it's just you and I Living freely in my rival's home I cook you dinner by the firelight I wonder if you'd rather be alone

about

Two tunes I wrote in Montauk in the spring, one with words, one without.

I don't expect you to pay anything for it but if you do I'll donate half to Baltimore Safe Haven, a Black-led organization providing housing services to trans people experiencing homelessness.
